What to Watch For

Signs You Need Siding in Charlotte

Charlotte sits in the southeast hail belt with summer thunderstorm wind events, hurricane remnants tracking inland through August and September, and freeze-thaw cycling that lifts shingle granules. The roof above your head takes the hit before anything else does.

01

Granule Loss & Bald Patches

Shingle granules collecting in gutter downspouts and bald spots on the roof field are the first signs hail or age is breaking down your shingles. Once the asphalt mat is exposed, UV degrades the rest fast.

02

Lifted, Curled, or Missing Shingles

After a wind event, walk the perimeter. Lifted edges, curled corners, or missing tabs mean the wind seal failed. Water finds these spots within the next rain. Storm claims are time-sensitive, so document the day you see this.

03

Ceiling Stains & Daylight in the Attic

Brown rings on a ceiling under the attic, soft soffit, or daylight visible through the deck boards mean water is already getting through. The leak in the ceiling is rarely directly under the leak in the roof. Call before more deck rots.

Siding
FAQ

Can't find the answer? Get in touch and we'll respond within 30 minutes.

Should I do siding and roofing together?

Often yes. Shared scaffolding, one project timeline, and one permit cut total cost noticeably. Same crew also means the roof-to-wall flashing is installed correctly the first time. Bundling works best when both systems are due or when storm damage affected both. We will tell you honestly if the roof can wait another five years so you do not spend before you need to.

Is fiber cement worth it over vinyl?

For durability and resale, yes. Fiber cement handles Charlotte humidity and UV far better than vinyl over a 30-year horizon. It takes paint, does not warp, and resists pest damage. Vinyl is noticeably cheaper up front but replaces more often. The difference in lifetime cost is often smaller than the sticker difference suggests.

Can you repair just one damaged section of siding?

Yes. Spot repair with color and profile matching is our standard for storm-damaged single elevations. Finding an exact match on discontinued vinyl is the hardest part. Fiber cement is usually easy to match because current product lines are still available. We photograph the damage and source the match before we confirm the repair scope.

Can you redo just one side of the house?

Yes. Many Charlotte storm-damaged properties only need the affected exposure replaced. We blend trim, flashing, and paint so the repair does not look like a patch from the street. If the damaged side was the only one still original, replacing that face is often enough. A full-home refresh is only recommended when all sides are at end of life.

Do you handle HOA paperwork for color and style submissions?

Yes. HOA color and style submissions are part of the standard project workflow. We maintain current approved palettes for the major Ballantyne, Huntersville, Weddington, and Fort Mill communities we serve. Submittals take two weeks on average from clean paperwork to approval. We do not start siding work until written HOA approval is in hand.
